Lyons
Privacy
What this site collects, why, and how to be rid of it.
Inside Lyons collects as little as it can, and this page says exactly what that is.
Server logs
The site is static files served by Vercel, which keeps standard request logs — IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser’s user-agent string — for a short period, as any web server does. We do not read them to build a picture of you and they are not linked to anything else.
Counting page views
We count page views, so we know which guides people actually read. This is counting, not profiling. It is not used to identify you, it is not shared and it is not sold.
It runs on Vercel Web Analytics, which is why there is still no cookie banner on this site: it sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Visitors are told apart by a hash Vercel derives from the request itself, and that is discarded after 24 hours, so there is nothing that follows you between visits or between sites.
What gets recorded is the page, where you came from, roughly where you are (country, region, city), and what browser and device you used. No names, no addresses, nothing tied to a person.
When you write to us
If you use a form on this site, what you type in it reaches us by email through formspree.io, a form service, and we keep it only as long as it takes to act on it. If you submit an event, the event details go on the site; your email address does not.
If you sign up for the weekly email
Your address goes to buttondown.com, which sends the email for us, along with whichever towns you picked. They hold it so they can send you the thing you asked for, and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it or hand it to anyone, and every email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately and for good.
What we never do
- Sell, rent or share an email address. Ever, to anyone, for any amount.
- Run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels or social widgets.
- Ask you to accept cookies, because there are none to accept.
Links out
These guides link out constantly — to restaurants, town halls, organizers, Zillow, Wikimedia. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site under someone else’s policy, and we have no say in what they collect.
Questions
Write to us and ask. If this page ever stops being accurate, that is a bug and we want to know about it.
