LaVern M. Johnson Park
The park under the cliffs: the whitewater park, a splash pad, playgrounds, the Town campground and, in a cold January, an outdoor ice rink.
The Town’s riverside park, rebuilt after the 2013 flood. A quarter-mile of engineered pools and drops on the North St. Vrain for kayaks in June and tubes in July and August, a splash pad and playgrounds, the campground, and an ice rink when a cold snap holds. Picnic tables and shelters can be reserved online, which the Town recommends for summer weekends and holidays; otherwise tables are first come, first served. RV camping with full hookups is open year-round and tent camping from April 1 to October 15. A concessionaire rents tubes, life jackets, helmets and river shoes at the park through the summer.
