Rabbit Mountain (Ron Stewart Preserve)
The low, dry, early-season option north-east of town, with the big view back to Longs Peak. Leashed dogs welcome.
The trail area that dries first in spring and stays walkable in winter. The Eagle Wind loop (about 2.5 miles), the Little Thompson Overlook (1.5 miles one way) and Indian Mesa (about 2 miles) all leave from one trailhead with a restroom and shelter. Rattlesnakes in summer, hunting closures on some autumn days, and the one county area here where leashed dogs are welcome.
